About the Founder - Derek Wade MF
Derek Wade is often referred to as a 21st century social entrepreneur. He is a professional youth mentor & life coach, A qualified youth justice practitioner and Football Association sports coach for both abled children and those with special needs. He worked part time as a Football talent scout for one of London's Premiership football clubs providing trial opportunities for several local boys who's ambitions were realised. He is also a renowned motivational speaker, civic champion and recognised Fellow of the Government's Millennium Awards.
Derek is the founder of Purpose For Living CIC. A Community Interest Company, and "Not For Profit" Social Enterprise established to meet the needs of children & young people, their parents and carer's and the local community. Mentoring Solutions is one of his newest projects to date, developed to motivate and challenge children & young people to achieve their goals and aspirations. Derek created Purpose for Living, after being selected for a Millennium Award through the Civic Trust and subsequently earned the accolade as a Millennium Civic Champion and Fellow in 2001.
After leaving secondary school, Derek felt isolated as a teenager from the kind of support he expected would assist him in his journey through adolescence to becoming a teenager, then from education to employment and adulthood. Derek realised the importance of setting oneself goals, especially in a society that rewards achievers and leaves little room for those who are lagging behind in the arena of life.
He is a gifted motivator, who not only captivates his audiences when introducing proven life changing principles that get results, but also brings inspiration to those he engages with. He demonstrates his ability to empower young people through mediated learning, helping them transcend to the next level of thinking. Derek's unique ability causes them to sustain the changes they make in their journey for continual development, assuring they rise to stand head and shoulders amongst their peers when they apply what they have discovered through his mentoring development and coaching techniques. Derek's capacity to deliver and motivate change within extends across cultures, and he is highly respected in his field by his colleagues. He firmly believes that there is a wealth of untapped potential within every young person laying dormant, just waiting for the right support to help them identify their personal barriers and unlock their fingerprint for life's purpose.

Derek's contribution to youth issues at government level with Ministers and at local forums in several London boroughs has earned him recognition as a "local community person", promoting youth inclusion through his work with voluntary and faith organizations from the Third Sector. He has been involved in helping to develop the personal and professional lives of young people for over 22 years. His passion is to see individuals be the best they can be, and fulfill their potential regardless of their circumstances.
He has been married to his wife Andrea for over 20 years, and together they parent four sons, all of whom are in fulltime education ranging from primary to higher level.

Youth on Crime
Derek subscribes to the wise proverb that says "it takes a village to raise a child" and he believes that we can successfully address the current issue of youth on youth violence primarily through education, and by promoting parental responsibility as one of the main building blocks. Significant adults and parents of our children having meaningful purpose led conversations with them on the topic of their safety on our streets and the possession and use of knives, guns and other illegal weapons. Real conversations that educate our young people to the consequences of such actions, as well as their own individual civic responsibility to make a positive contribution whilst living within our society.
